Lady luck: Tuesday’s best WNBA bets

By SportsDirect Inc. staff

Seattle Storm at San Antonio Silver Stars

The Seattle Storm have kept their winning streak rolling, despite a couple close calls in their last two games.

Seattle snuck out of Phoenix with a win in triple overtime last week and escaped Minnesota with a two-point victory over the Lynx Saturday. The road weary Storm conclude this three-game away swing in San Antonio Tuesday.

“We can’t be satisfied with the way we played tonight,” Seattle forward Lauren Jackson told reporters after Saturday’s win. “We need to get better. We didn’t panic, and that’s a great thing.”

Seattle failed to cover as a 4.5-point road favourite against Minnesota, dropping to 6-4 against the spread on the road this season. San Antonio is coming off a 10-point win over the Los Angeles Sparks this weekend, covering as a 6.5-point home favourite and improving to 5-4 ATS inside the AT&T Center.

Expect the Storm to long for the West Coast in this final game of their road trip before heading home for the next three contests. The Silver Stars will catch them napping.

Pick: San Antonio

New York Liberty at Connecticut Sun

The Sun scored a huge win over the No. 1 team in the Eastern Conference this weekend, setting the tone for the second half of their season.

Connecticut knocked off the Atlanta Dream, 96-80, as 4.5-point home favourites – improving to 8-1 inside Mohegan Sun Arena (7-2 ATS). It was the first time the Sun have beaten the Dream in three meetings this season.

Connecticut got a big boost from its bench, totaling 29 points from the reserves – including 14 points from backup forward Sandrine Gruda.

“The bench gained the lead,” reserve Renee Montgomery told the media. “That’s not a surprise. There’s very talented players coming off the bench.”

The Sun have won three straight games over the Liberty at home and four of their last six meetings overall, posting a 4-2 ATS mark in that span.

Pick: Connecticut
